Globe Life Field, Arlington, TX — In the series opener between the New York Yankees and the Texas Rangers, the Yankees beat the Rangers 4-2 — thanks to the home run ball, and a shutout performance from starter Max Fried on the mound.
The Yankees would get on the board first via the long ball.
After Trent Grisham hit an infield single with two outs in the top of the third inning, Ben Rice launched a homer into the Yankee’s bullpen to put them ahead 2-0.
Aaron Judge would tack on to the lead in the same inning, shooting a line drive solo-homer into the left field seats to put the Yankees up 3-0.
Jazz Chisholm Jr. would join in on the home run parade — the Yankee’s third homer, by leading off the top of the fourth with a deep fly to the Ranger’s bullpen, to put the Yankees up 4-0.
The Rangers would finally get on the scoreboard in the seventh inning off of reliever Camilo Doval.
Pinch hitter Joc Pederson clubbed a home run to left-center field to cut into the Yankee’s lead, 4-1. Pederson’s homer was his second of the season and the Ranger’s first pinch-hit home run of the year.
The Rangers would score again in the bottom of the ninth.
After Jake Burger reached on an infield single, Alejandro Osuna would plate Burger with an RBI single to center field, to make it 4-2, Yankees.
Yankee’s starter Fried was on his game — pitching 6 shutout innings, while striking out 5 before turning the ball over to the bullpen. Fried would earn his fourth win of the season against the Rangers.

The Good: The Bronx Bombers hit three home runs — totaling four runs, against the Rangers. Rice, Judge and Chisholm Jr. all had home runs against Leiter and that was the difference in the game. All three of the home runs were over 400 feet.
The Bad/The Ugly: Ranger’s starter Jack Leiter was tagged for three home runs, accounting for 4 runs. He struggled to keep the ball in the yard, and the Yankees took full advantage of Leiter’s mistakes.
