T-Mobile Park, Seattle, WA — In the finale of a three-game series, the Seattle Mariners defeated the Texas Rangers 5-2, thanks to the long ball and Bryan Woo’s quality start on the mound.

Mariner’s starter Bryan Woo was outstanding, pitching 7 innings, giving up two runs, while striking out 5 on his way to earning his first win of the season.

Seattle wasted no time scoring: on the first pitch in the bottom of the first, Rob Refsnyder launched a home run to left field, putting the Mariners ahead 1-0.

The Mariners would score again via the long ball. Mitch Garver drew a lead-off walk in the bottom of the second, and two batters later, JP Crawford parked a homer in the right field seats, making it 3-0, Seattle.

The Mariners would take Mackenzie Gore deep again. Julio Rodriguez hit a two-out single to left-center field in the bottom of the fifth. One batter later, Randy Arozarena would hit a homer off the left field foul pole, to make it 5-0 Seattle.

The Rangers’ offense would come alive in the top of the seventh.

Corey Seager drew a lead-off walk, and Wyatt Langford dropped a single into left field to put two on, with no one out. Joc Pederson was hit by a pitch to load the bases.

One batter later, Josh Jung would plate the Rangers’ first run of the game with an RBI sac fly, making it 5-1 Seattle. Evan Carter would follow suit with an RBI double, making it 5-2, Seattle.

The Good: The long ball for Seattle — the Mariners would take Mackenzie Gore deep 3 times, resulting in 5 runs, capitalizing on his mistakes over the heart of the plate.

The Bad/The Ugly: Mackenzie Gore did not have his best start, giving up 5 runs over five innings, while striking out 5. When he missed with his pitches, the Mariners made him pay by taking him deep.
