The Detroit Tigers and infielder Kevin McGonigle have agreed to an 8-year, 150 million dollar extension through 2034.

The deal, which covers the 2027-2034 seasons, is set to begin next year and includes his first five seasons of club control and his 3-years of free agency.

At just 21-years-old, the former No. 2 prospect earned the Arizona Fall League MVP last year after batting .362 with five homers and 19 RBI in 19 games.

With the Tigers, McGonigle is batting .311 and has a team-leading OPS of .909, and has reached base safely in 15 of 16 starts.

Quote of the week

"People ask me what I do in the winter when there's no baseball. I'll tell you what I do. I stare out the window and wait for spring."
