The former top prospect in baseball, Konnor Griffin, will be a Pirate for the foreseeable future after signing a 9-year, $140-million contract extension keeping him with the team through 2034.

The 19-year-old infielder laced an RBI double in his Major League debut against the Orioles on April 3rd. He was selected ninth overall in the 2024 MLB draft by the Pirates.

Throughout his career in the Minors, including Single A, Double A, and Triple-A, Griffin hit for a .336 average, 21 home runs, and 95 RBI.

The pirates lock in a key part of their organization’s future with this long-term contract extension.

"People ask me what I do in the winter when there's no baseball. I'll tell you what I do. I stare out the window and wait for spring."
